Adults

Since the pandemic, the number of adults diagnosed (or self-diagnosed) with ADHD has skyrocketed. The truth is, some of my clients have been neurodivergent their whole lives while many people, particularly women, are just realizing this now. The pandemic opened up the discussion on different types of brains and how to make your unique one function best.

I work with adults with ADHD to improve their mental health, executive functioning skills, productivity and social interactions so they develop life-long strategies for living happier, more fulfilling lives.

As an adult living with ADHD, you may be facing challenges that range from managing your impulsivity, emotional reactivity and relationship issues to feeling deep wells of anxiety, loneliness and depression. As a therapist for more than 30 years, what I know to be true about adults is that their mental health (our mental health) can often be quite messy and incredibly confusing.

Typical Questions Addressed in Therapy Include:

  • How do you manage years of feeling criticized or rejected without becoming depressed?
  • When causes anxiety to increase and how to respond more effectively to your fears and worries?
  • How to navigate social situations without increased anxiety and fears around friends, romantic partners or coworkers.

These kinds of dilemmas emerge after years of living with ADHD or neurodivergence in a neurotypical world without adequate support.

That’s where I come in.

ADHD, anxiety, learning differences and your mood affect you at home, work and in relationships. I can help you create balance, flow and confidence in your life so you’re less defined by your ADHD. Instead, look at it as the complex maze that makes up your unique brain. Together we will improve your executive functioning skills, increase organizational tools, raise productivity and performance levels and foster meaningful social interactions.

We will also address techniques for coping with emotional dysregulation, social awkwardness, rejection sensitivity and conflict. My aim is to help you increase compassionate acceptance, so your inner voice becomes your friend not your worst critic.

This is how you create a life you truly love to live.

Psychotherapy

ADHD is often accompanied by anxiety, depression, or learning disabilities. Psychotherapy can help.

I maintain a private practice in Northampton, Massachusetts where we can work on your individual challenges together. In psychotherapy, we address the root causes behind your feelings and how to move forward with new strategies for coping with issues. We also take a deeper look at your one-of-a-kind brain to explore how you process information, attention and emotions.

If you have habits related to your ADHD traits that no longer serve you, we collaborate on dismantling unhelpful, frustrating behaviors and replacing them with improved self-awareness and useful skills. The goal of therapy is to get your mental health to a place where you feel whole and authentically you.

If you’re looking for this kind of support, I would welcome a conversation to explore working together.

ADHD Consulting/Coaching for Adults

Consulting/coaching are different from therapy in that we are focused on skills and education. I offer two options of either two or four online coaching sessions for adults with ADHD. This will give us the time necessary to assess your situation, explore new strategies and offer suggestions for the next steps.
