SENG 2021 Conference: Motivating 2E kids to do the no-fun, boring stuff

SENG 2021 Annual Conference

“Motivating 2E kids to do the no-fun, boring stuff: From academic assignments to household chores, helping children and teens get started, persist and finish tasks”

A Presentation by Dr. Sharon Saline

Do you know 2E students who have a tough time starting and completing things they have to do? Dr. Sharon Saline, veteran psychologist and author, provides insight and tools on how to successfully motivate these complex students both at school and at home, especially over the past year.
With the various adjustments recently facing students, there are greater risks for anxiety about academics, social issues and competence. Building upon a strength-based, collaborative approach, she will show you how to develop and use strategies to teach all-important executive functioning skills related to motivation and self-esteem.
Participants will walk away with strategies that increase kids accountability, initiation and follow-through based on collaboration and compassion. When you include 2E learners in creating solutions to daily challenges, you will increase their buy-in, see more cooperation and foster resilience.
